Lorton Station Expansion

Scope: To construct a 250-ft. long platform extension to the east of the existing platform at the VRE Lorton Station. The new platform will have canopy coverage for 100' of its length with updated LED lighting. The extension of the platform will allow for the additional railcars to accomodate ridership growth. VRE is pursuing additional funding to construct an additional platform with a pedestrian bridge connecting the eastern and western platform to utilize the western track.

Scheduled Completion: Begin Design 2012; End Construction 2013

Project Budget: $1.5 Million
