Ice Skating in the Sculpture Garden

It's that time of year again--skating season! The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden Ice Skating Rink will open on November 15th, weather permitting. Hours for the rink will be Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The season lasts through March 15th.

On weekdays, admission is $5.00 for adults, $4.50 for students, and $4.00 for seniors. Weekend admission will be $5.50 for adults, and $4.50 for both students and seniors. Skate rental is $2.50 and refreshments will be sold.

The Sculpture Garden, located at Seventh Street and Constitution Avenue, is only a two block walk from VRE's L'Enfant Station in Washington. Skaters can take the VRE from Manassas or Fredericksburg, or one of many intermediate stations, into D.C. Disembark at the L'Enfant Station's 7th Street exit and turn right. Follow 7th Street north two blocks to Constitution Avenue and the Sculpture Garden.

Manassas line riders have several options for planning a daytime trip to the skating rink. See our schedule of new midday trains for ideas.

Fredericksburg line riders can take the last train inbound to D.C. (#310), and take a leisurely walk to the rink. Then take Everyday JumpStart train/bus combination back home.
