Summary of Delay

In the morning, switch and signal problems at SRO (near Crystal City station) caused delays. Once we learned of the full extent of the signal problem and the delays it would cause, we opened the Metro Option to allow customers to detrain prior to reaching Crystal City and use Metro to complete their trip.

Train 302 - delayed 47 minutes into Union Station due to switch problems near Crystal City. FRCs were handed out to those delayed 30 or more minutes.
Train 304 - delayed 27 minutes into Union Station due to switch problems near Crystal City.
Train 306 - delayed 40 minutes into Union Station due to switch problems near Crystal City, customers requiring assistance and waiting for delayed train 321 to clear the track ahead near Alexandria. FRCs were handed out the morning of January 29 on board.
Train 308 - delayed 20 minutes into Union Station due to switch problems near Crystal City and longer than usual passenger dwell times.

Train 306 - delayed 9 minutes into Union Station due to a minor mechanical problem departing Fredericksburg and slow orders.

Train 301 - terminated at Arkendale (between Quantico and Brooke) due to a problem with the locomotive. Passengers were transfered to an Amtrak train operating behind train 301 to complete their trips. FRCs were handed out on board to those delayed 30 minutes or more.
Train 307 - delayed 7 minutes into Fredericksburg due to slow orders and customers requiring assistance.
Train 311 - canceled due to train 301's equipment not being able to return to Washington for evening service. Passengers were accommodated on board Amtrak train 93, which was held to run on the same schedule as train 311. Conductors waived the Step-Up Ticket policy.

Train 331 - delayed 11 minutes into Broad Run/Airport due to correcting a minor mechanical problem.
