A violent thunderstorm caused many trees to fall throughout the service area. Several trees fell across the tracks to the south of Quantico Station. The railroad was closed for approximately two hours while CSX crews worked to clear the tracks.

Once the trees were removed and the tracks inspected, residual delays occurred due to train congestion and the presence of track workers in the area.

Train 303- delayed 92 minutes into Fredericksburg. FRCs were distributed on board to those affected.
Train 305- delayed 82 minutes into Fredericksburg. FRCs were distributed on board to those affected.
Train 307- delayed 50 minutes into Fredericksburg.
Train 309 - delayed 32 minutes into Fredericksburg.
Train 311 - Cancelled because the afternoon closure of CSX railroad south of Quantico and the resulting rail congestion prevented the mid-day train (301) from returning to Union Station to operate southbound service. Those affected may request an FRC from VRE headquarters by submitting a completed FRC Request form.
