The dispatching center at Union Station experienced a power outage just before our first early evening trains were scheduled to depart. We were able to run the first two trains (Fredericksburg 303 & Manassas 327) on a delayed schedule out of L'Enfant by turning the mid-day trainsets when they reached that station. However, many of our rush hour trains experienced significant delays as they could not depart Washington until power was restored just before 5:30p. Additionally, the late departures from Union Station forced us to cancel two Manassas trains.

Train 305 - delayed 90 minutes into Fredericksburg due to power outage at Union Station. Those affected may request an FRC from VRE headquarters by submitting a completed FRC Request form.

Morning Service

The first morning Manassas Line train #322 hit a tree that had fallen across the tracks as it approached the Accotink bridge. While it was able to make it through the area, there was some minor damage to the cab car on that train. Additionally, there was a concern that some damage may have been done to the tracks. As a result, none of our Manassas trains were permitted to pass through the area until the tracks were inspected and the tree cleared. Manassas Line riders experienced lengthy delays and cancellations as trains waited for inspectors to re-open the railroad.

Train 308 - delayed 18 minutes into Union Station due to following an Amtrak train and train #326 from Alexandria to Union Station.
Train 310 - delayed 8 minutes into Union Station due to signal problems just south of Fredericksburg, following train #332 into Alexandria, and waiting for permission to proceed from track foreman south of Crystal City.

Train 321 - terminated at Alexandria due to NS track inspections halting service to Broad Run.
Train 322 - delayed 24 minutes into Union Station due to striking track debris south of Backlick Road and inspection of equipment for damage.
Train 324 - delayed 95 minutes into Union Station due to holding for NS track inspection, other train movements south of Alexandria, waiting for permission to proceed from track foreman south of Crystal City. FRCs were distributed on board to those affected.
Train 326 - delayed 85 minutes into Union Station due to holding for NS track inspection and following train 324 and an Amtrak train from south of Alexandria to Union Station. FRCs were distributed on board to those affected.
