Due to CSX signal suspension for the addition of a third track between the Potomac River bridge and Alexandria, VRE operated a modified service on May 30. As a result, Fredericksburg Line trains operated into and out of the Franconia/Springfield station and Manassas line trains operated into and out of a station stop in a rail yard located near the Van Dorn Metrorail station. Additionally, the signal suspension made it necessary for VRE to cancel one evening train on the Fredericksburg line (#311) and all reverse-flow trains (#321, #336 and #338) on the Manassas line.
