Message from the CEO

When I met with the new U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, and other transit leaders in our region earlier this month, I was pleased to hear that the Biden administration is fully behind coronavirus relief funding for public transportation. The Secretary emphasized that dependable public transit systems are critical for a robust economy recovery. Read more.

Federal Mask Requirement

The President has issued an Executive Order requiring masks to be worn on various modes of surface transportation, including trains. To implement the Executive Order, the TSA issued a Security Directive which enforces the related Order issued by the CDC, pursuant to the authority of the 49 U.S.C. section 114.

OmniRide & VRE: Partners in Public Transit

OmniRide is honored to be able to partner with VRE to meet the travel needs of those returning to work in 2021. Because both services are committed to the health and safety of our passengers and staff, we have implemented enhanced cleaning and a designated seating pattern to ensure social distancing. So as area commuters return, they can safely ride both VRE and Omniride. Learn more.

Commuter Connections & Guaranteed Ride Home 

The Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) program is free and available to all VRE riders. Just as VRE continues to operate (albeit at a reduced schedule), the GRH program and all other Commuter Connections services remain available. Learn more.
