Message from the CEO
Circle June 1 on your calendar. That’s when VRE will resume a full-service schedule. As more people return to the office, we recognize our reduced-service schedule may not be a good fit for their commutes. Convenience is important and we are pleased to give passengers additional travel options. Read more.
Full-Size Bikes Currently Accepted on All VRE Trains
May is National Bike Month and VRE is currently accepting full-size bicycles on all trains! VRE will continue to accept full-size bikes on all trains until ridership rises to a point where it no longer is feasible. Just check in with the conductor when boarding, then secure your bicycle to the south end bench seats using a bungee cord attached to the seat frame eyelet. Please remember passengers are not permitted to ride bicycles on the platforms or trains.
Current Ridership Trends
Curious about what ridership looks like on VRE trains as more people return to the office? Listen to how Paul Rink, VRE's Operations and Communications Administrator, describes ridership trends and explains how to use train utilization charts for trip planning. Listen to Paul or read the interview on our website.
Manassas Railway Festival
The Manassas Heritage Railway Festival is back this year! The 26th annual family celebration of railroad history is free and will feature model train displays, train memorabilia, and specialty vendors. While VRE will not offer excursion trips at the festival this year, we'll have a train on display and staff assisting with safety around the tracks. Hope to see you at the Manassas station on Saturday, June 5 from 10am-3pm!
