Partnerships are key to VRE’s ability to provide safe, high-quality commuter rail service. They are essential to our funding, oversight, operations, maintenance and growth. Over the next few months, we will share the stories of the agencies, organizations and companies with which we partner and how these relationships allow us to better serve our passengers and communities.
Navigating the alphabet soup of partners isn’t easy. Our two parent commissions, NVTC and PRTC, approve VRE’s policies, budgets, and major spending decisions. Several agencies – NVTA, DRPT, and U.S. DOT – help support our operating and capital expenses. Organizations, like MWCOG and FAMPO, work to integrate VRE service into regional multimodal transportation plans. Entities – such as CSX, NS, Amtrak, Keolis and, in the near future, VPRA – help ensure the safety of our equipment and the tracks upon which our trains operate. Existing and future blog posts will provide insight into how each partnership contributes to VRE’s success. |
