Manassas Line Projects

Current Projects

Alexandria Station Improvements

We're removing the timber pedestrian grade crossing across Track 3 (closest to the station) and Track 2, adding elevators to both platforms and adjusting the platform elevations to make them ADA-compliant.

Broad Run

The Broad Run Expansion project involves several elements including: parking expansion, yard expansion, addition of a third mainline track, and platform shift

Crystal City Station Improvements

A reconfigured station with a longer platform served by two tracks would remove an operational bottleneck and expand train capacity in the most heavily trafficked part of the CSXT RF&P Subdivision. It will also improve the safety and reliability of the railroad.

L'Enfant North and South Storage Tracks

We're converting existing side tracks both north and south of L’Enfant Station so that they can be used to temporarily store trains during the middle of the day.

Lifecycle Overhaul and Upgrade

We're building a new maintenance facility to conduct heavy maintenance on-site.

Long Bridge Feasibility and Environmental Studies

The purpose of this project is to provide additional railroad capacity across the Potomac River.

Manassas Park Station Parking Expansion

We're building a new parking garage, upgrading access on Park Center Court from Manassas Drive, and adding a new pedestrian bridge from the garage to the platform at the station with new elevators.

Midday Storage Facility

We're planning, designing and constructing a permanent midday storage facility for VRE trains that travel to Washington, DC.

Penta-Platforms Station Improvements

The Penta-Platforms Project will add capacity to the CSXT RF&P Subdivision by generally extending platforms and/or adding second platforms at five VRE Fredericksburg Line stations.

Rolling Road Platform Extension

The platform extension project, will build a 250-foot platform extension to accommodate eight-car trains.

Station Facilities Projects

Status update of VRE facilities projects as reported in the VRE CEO Report.

TVM Upgrade

We now have an upgrade underway which will effectively replace every major component in the system, leaving just the stainless steel cabinets from the original system.
