Important Manassas Boarding Information
Important Manassas Boarding Information
- Plan to have every member of your group on the BOARDING (south) side of the railroad tracks at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure. Lines will be set up.
- Main, Battle, and West Street will all be CLOSED TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC. If driving in from the north, plan to use the Grant Street underpass to the west of West Street to get to the train depot.
- Main, Battle, and West Streets will all be blocked by the train when it arrives, so you must be on the boarding side prior to the train’s arrival. If stuck on the wrong side, you must walk around via the Grant Street underpass.
- Never walk around the locomotive, it is DANGEROUS and ILLEGAL! Never attempt to climb on or crawl under the train.
- All tracks are active and you should expect a train on any track, at any time, from any direction.
- Manassas Police will be on hand to enforce rail safety and railroad trespassing.
- For parents with infants and small children, be aware that there are three road crossings in the immediate area. Trains are required to blow their horn when moving through the crossings per standard practice. Be prepared for this. Also, be prepared for unpredictable weather.
- Temperatures during this event can range from the low 30’s to the high 60’s and conditions may change during the day.
- Your conduct matters. VRE reserves the right to deny boarding or remove any passengers who act in an unsafe manner, disobey train crew instructions, or engage in any illegal activity.
