Federal workers returning to the office will find plenty of available seats on VRE’s 32 daily trains. Comfortable and convenient, VRE trains have been the travel mode of choice for thousands of Virginians serving in the military or working for federal agencies for more than 30 years. Former and new passengers alike will experience a commute like no other on VRE.
Alexandria, Va. – The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) will make modest adjustments to its fare schedule for the first time in five years and eliminate fares for those ages 18 and under beginning Monday, July 1, 2024.
Representatives of the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) and a host of dignitaries gathered May 21 at the Fredericksburg rail station to celebrate recent improvements that enhance the passenger experience, increase safety for VRE riders and pedestrians, and restore the iconic image of the station and surrounding infrastructure.
