The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) received an award of $25 million in federal funding through the U.S. Department of Transportation's BUILD (Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development) Grant program.
The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) has acquired Seminary Yard, a rail yard offering strategically-located infrastructure in Alexandria, VA. The property was purchased from the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) for $35.8 million, as part of a five-year, $155 million dollar agreement between the two parties for the transfer of four separate property interests.
The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) is making it easy to celebrate Independence Day and the 250th anniversary of the founding of our nation in style this year, with the return of VRE Fireworks Trains on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
