VRE Cares Food Drive: Supporting Our Community

As many in our region continue to face challenges from the ongoing government shutdown and reductions in assistance programs, Virginia Railway Express is stepping up to support our community. Our riders and neighbors have supported us through the years, and it’s only fitting that we give back in return to all furloughed workers, impacted federal contractors, and affected families.

From November 10 through November 21, we’ll be collecting nonperishable food items to help those in need. Riders can participate by bringing donations aboard and placing them in designated collection boxes located on each train. All donated items will be gathered and distributed to local organizations supporting families and individuals in need.

Where Can I Donate? 

Riders can leave donations onboard our trains in the designated collection boxes on each train. You can find boxes on the luggage rack by the vestibule for conductors to collect. Please see the list of needed items for donations.

Beneficiaries 

All donations will benefit Capitol Area Food Bank and The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, supporting the communities along VRE's service corridors.
