The Manassas Park Station currently provides parking for VRE riders in a 600-space parking lot. Demand for parking at the Manassas Park Station has continued to increase, exceeding the capacity of the existing parking lot. The City and the VRE began work on a joint project for the design and construction of a parking garage on City-owned property located across the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks near City Hall. VRE conducted a study in 2017 to address the need to expand the existing parking at Manassas Park station. The study included an analysis of alternatives, environmental documentation, and the design of the proposed parking facility. The study determined the location and size of the proposed parking facility. A pedestrian bridge will be provided for grade-separated access to the existing platform and surface lot. Approximately 540 more spaces are anticipated to be needed in addition to the 600 existing surface parking spaces serving the station. The VRE station and the proposed parking facility are an integral part of the City Center Redevelopment District, the proposed transit-accessible high-density mixed-use town center of Manassas Park.
Construct a parking garage to add additional parking capacity at the station.
