Project Description

This project includes the planning, design, permitting, and construction for an expanded and relocated station and platform for the VRE Crystal City Station and related track modifications. The project will construct an island platform to enable simultaneous boarding of two trains and accommodate full-length trains and the planned fourth track in and around the station. This project is related to and must be coordinated with the Alexandria Fourth Track project between AF and RO interlockings and the Long Bridge Capacity Improvements, part of Transforming Rail in Virginia (TRV) initiative. The station also has the potential to be connected to a future CC2DCA pedestrian bridge to Ronald Reagan National Airport depending on the outcome of the Arlington County alternatives selection.

    Stakeholder comments have been received on the Draft IFB package, and comment resolution is underway. License to use adjacent property for contractor laydown space has been secured. County comments on the site plan adminsitrative change package have been received and are being addressed. Revised administrative change package, and South Entrance CEP to submitted to County by end of July. County Civil Engineering Plan package for north entrance has been approved. The contract for Construction Management Services has been executed and Notice to Proceed issued. Construction Manager has completed initial review of the project documents.

    The Draft IFB package has been received and distributed for stakeholder review, with comments due back by 6/15/26. License to use adjacent property for contractor laydown space has been secured. County comments on the site plan adminsitrative change package have been received and are being addressed. Revised administrative change package, and South Entrance CEP to submitted to County by end of June. County Civil Engineering Plan package for north entrance has been approved. The contract for Construction Management Services has been executed and Notice to Proceed issued. Construction Manager is reviewing the project documents.

The contract for Construction Management Services is currently in the execution phase.
